Hello friends and family, please forgive me for me prolonged absence! So much has been happening with our family! I am still going to school full time, but just ended this semester and I am looking forward to a good break with the boys. Tyson is doing great, he is learning so much and is so much fun to be around. He is now to the point where he enjoys telling "knock-knock" jokes and even though they don't make sense to us, he thinks they're hilarious. Zachary is also doing great! He is getting so big and is very curious. He is learning so many new words and is learning a little sign language along with it for easier communication with us. We also have a new addition, his name is Mandel, and his picture is above! I am active on Facebook, but I really want to try to do better on here to give family updates.

Family Update

Well, it has been quite a while since I have posted anything, I'm sorry! As you can see, I have given our blog a "facelift". Our little family is doing well, Tyson will be 3 years old in late March and is still not potty trained! He is a bundle of personality and just the sweetest little thing, and has super great manners. Zachary will be 1 in early March and now has 6 teeth and is sleeping through the night in his crib. He won't take naps in his crib, but we have night time down! Zachary isn't quite walking yet, but he is almost there. He loves to eat most everything and is super cuddly. While taking these pictures, Zach kept hearing his big brother say, "Cheese!", so he followed and would say it too, it was so adorable!

I hope you enjoy these pictures and the quick update on the boys, I will try to do better uploading pictures and keeping up to date.

Vacation 2009

We were very blessed to go on vacation in Scottsdale, Arizona this past week. We were able to visit a few western towns and just spend some quality time together!

Super.....Meaning

As many of you know, Tyson used to call Superman, "Meaning", I don't know why he did but he did. Now he calls him "Super-Meaning", so we now have part of it correct, right? One of Auntie Tabitha's favorite "Tyson Stories" is me waking up to hearing Tyson in his bed in the room next to us saying, "A plane, a plane, SUPER-MEANING", he would say this over and over and it is just TOO adorable! Well, he of course wanted to wear his Super-Meaning pajamas the other day and here are a few pictures of us hanging out together!

Zachary is four months now! He is such a sweet boy, still no teeth but they are trying very hard to come in. He has a hearing test on Monday, my "mommy instinct" tells me he can hear just fine out of both ears but the doctor wanted him to get them tested since he failed at birth. He has discovered his feet and loves to laugh!

Hello friends and family!

Zachary turned three months on June third and is doing great! He is growing and is very strong just like his big brother was at his age. Zach started to teethe about two weeks ago, poor little guy is drooling and chewing on everything! He is almost rolling over and tries so hard but just can't get that last little "umph" to get over. Tyson is doing well, he is adjusting to being a big brother pretty well and enjoys playing outside at his sand table. Here are a few random pictures of the boys.

Tyson brought me a jar of peanut butter yesterday and so I thought, "Sure, let him take a bite and once he figures out how sweet and sticky it is, he won't want it". Nope, he sat in front of the fireplace and ate it!

Tonight Tyson was eating chips and salsa and somehow he learned to call it delicious. Then he decided to tell me that it was a bowl of delicious! It was so cute, and just so you know, the freaking out in the video is because he heard the ice maker.

Train Show

This weekend after Leon took his family to the airport, we went to a train show in Perris, California. Tyson had a blast, although in the pictures he doesn't look like he had a great because he was so tired, but he really did have fun! We couldn't figure out what he was saying for a while, it sounded like he was saying, "I'm bored", but finally we realized that his Grandpa Lucas had taught him to say, "All Aboard", and that's what he was saying the whole time, too cute!

I was so excited when I saw this car, it is a Crosley, which were cars made in Indiana during World War II. Growing up, my grandpa used to take me every single year to the Crosley Show in Richmond and I was so excited to have a picture with a Crosley and my boys!

I apologize, but I am the only mother in the world who didn't bring the camera to church on Easter, I am sorry! But here are some recent pictures of our family. I just thought I would add a picture of the beautiful flowers that my wonderful husband got me last week!

Zachary sleeping in this morning, he gets so hot when he sleeps that he sweats everywhere, so he usually sleeps in either just a diaper or a onesie.

This weekend we were able to go to Oceanside and celebrate Tyson's birthday. We had a joint party with his friend, Olivia, who is exactly two weeks older than him. We had a great time and boy was he wore out the next day! Here he is fascinated with the fire truck that Pastor and Miss Lisa got him.

We had a pinata, here Tyson is just learning that he is supposed to run and get the candy, once he figured it out we couldn't get him to stop!

Hello friends and family,

Things are going really well and we are adjusting pretty good to having two children! We haven't quite mastered the "making it to church on time" yet, but we are working on it. I made my very first trip out alone this week, I took both boys to the post office and while Zach was actually content, Tyson was crying and disobeying because he wanted something from the car! Our church family through us a shower, which was such a blessing as we received probably over 400 diapers!

Tyson is adjusting well, still has his jealous moments, but loves his little "bwudder". Tyson also turned two this week and now he always says "birfday", it's too cute!

Unfortunately, I did have to drop out of school over a week into the semester as it was just too much with Leon's schedule and having the two boys now, Lord willing I will be able to start again soon.

Please pray as Leon has put his reenlistment paper work in and some decisions are depending on the reenlistment outcome.

Hello Friends and Family!

We are proud to announce the birth of our son, Zachary Kent. He was born on March 3rd, 2009 at 4:16 p.m. He was 20.7 inches and weight 9 lbs, 3.5 oz! I went in for an appointment Tuesday morning, and the doctor said I had made significant progress. We asked about induction and the doctor made a few phone calls, and within an hour I was getting admitted and hooked up to the medicine! Thankfully, we have great neighbors who took great care of Tyson for us and only a couple hours after Leon dropped him off at their house, the nurse went to check me and said we were ready to have a baby! I had no idea that I was ready, but the doctor came in and within five minutes and half a push, we had baby Zach! Thank you for your many prayers as there were a couple hiccups along the way.

We came home tonight, Tyson is doing well with the adjustment and enjoys rubbing Zach's hair. I am feeling very well and thankful to not be pregnant anymore! Zach is doing very well too, he is fussy tonight because he was circumcised and also had all of his tests done this evening before we left. Leon is doing good, he will have the next ten days off of work so he is excited about that.

I had an appointment today and the doctor said there is a little progress, but not much. He will not discuss an induction at this point, so please pray for us as I am not feeling very well and I have my college finals next week to squeeze in there somewhere while having a baby!

Leon had today off of work and the weather was nice so we were able to drive through part of the Joshua Tree National Park. It was beautiful and we stopped to look at this view and Tyson really enjoys snow so he had a great time!

Hello everyone, I had my follow-up appointment today to get the results of the ultrasound and diabetes test. Both tests came out find and Baby Zach would hardly stop moving long enough for the doctor to hear his heart beat, but she finally got it. She was a little concerned because I told her that I have recently had a hard time sleeping because he is now getting so big and I am now measuring a little big, which means that there may be too much fluid. She wanted to see me in two weeks, but due to the move we will have to wait until we get to the new hospital to make sure there is enough room in there for the little guy.

Okay, so here are some pictures of the house we found in 29 Palms! It was built in 2006, 3 bed/2 bath and it's really secluded but still really close to Wal-Mart and other conveniences. Sorry that there is stuff in the pictures, but the owner stays sometimes just to look after the house but doesn't actually live there.

This is part of the entry way, it has a bunch of closets so there is plenty of space.

Well, this is what we ran into and delayed us for about five hours yesterday when trying to get to 29 Palms to look at houses. It was so weird to have a snow storm in the desert, but it was so exciting for me being an Indiana girl!

We will let you all know the outcome of our trip, we were only able to look at two houses yesterday due to the delay!

Baby Update

Hello everyone!

For those of you who do not know, the official name for our new son is Zachary Kent. I spent a long day at the Naval Hospital doing the gestational diabetes test and I had a regular appointment. I have not gotten the results back from the test, but they of course had a very difficult time getting my blood and now both of my arms are bruised and look pretty bad. The appointment went very well, except that Zach would not stop moving long enough for the doctor to get his heartbeat! Every time she would pick it up, he would kick the doppler. It was so funny!

I have the follow-up ultrasound next Friday, they will be checking to make sure that the placenta is where it should be and then I will be going to the doctor on the 31st to get the results.

Also for those of you who may not know, we will be moving to 29 Palms, CA in the beginning of January. We will be looking for a house in the next couple of weeks, please pray that the Lord shows us His will for our family.

I will post results and anymore baby news when we get it!

We went to Walmart today and I was finally able to find some newborn clothes! I have had a hard time finding newborn instead of 0-3 month clothes, but I found some cute outfits for baby Zach!

We did Tyson's Christmas shopping while we were there, I was already able to find a used train table for him (trains are the new thing to him). I had wanted to get him a rug to drive cars on but they are really expensive but I found a train rug with a Thomas toy in it for only $20!

And of course he has to have his "Choo-choo" movies! His Christmas presents are all bought except that I need get him a little track and a few trains for his table.

We found out today that we will be having another little boy! He is very active just like his older brother. They said he weighs about 15 ounces right now and everything looks great! We don't have a name yet, but we will be sure to let everyone know as soon as we get one!

We were able to get away on Monday night to go to 29 Palms for the evening to celebrate our birthdays and to also look around at the base. It was so hot while we were there and its mid September! We stayed in an adorable Bed and Breakfast while we were there and had a great time!

Okay, so I thought I would do an update on Tyson since he changes so much all the time.

He is 17 months already and has started running, its pretty funny because he puts his hands under his armpits and looks like he is doing the chicken dance whenever he runs, too cute!

He talks all the time and says so many new things, a few things that I can think of that he says is juice, hot dog, momma, dada, hi, hello, bye, push, uh-oh, no-no, bird, more, amen, and I know there is more but I can't think of them all, he also signs a lot of things too.

He knows how to pray now so when we pray for a meal he folds his hands and he will also talk so its like he says his own little prayer and then he says amen at the end!

He knows animal sounds now for birds, cows, lions, dinosaurs and dogs. It is so funny to ask them what they say and then he makes the noise, too cute!

There is so much more that he does but I can't even begin to name them all!

Hello everyone!

Well, we are now 10 weeks and 2 days pregnant! The official due date is March 1st.

I am starting to feel a little bit better, but I still have my off days.......

I had my first doctors appointment yesterday and they did an ultrasound, unfortunately I can't post them because you can barely see the baby even when you are looking at it in person. Anyways, there is only ONE baby and he/she kept moving all over the place so the doctors were very happy to see so much movement already.

We should be finding out around early October what we are having, so please be thinking of boy names, we already have a girl name but we definitely need help with boy names!

Tyson's First Barbershop Haircut

Tyson had his first real haircut this weekend. His hair was getting too long for me, it was coming over his ears and too far in the back.

He did so well, he sat in the chair and just let the barber cut his hair, no whining, crying or anything, what a big boy!!!!!!!!

Well, for the 4th of July we decided to go to Sea World. We had a great time and Tyson enjoyed watching the Shamu show!

Later that night we decided to watch the fireworks that they do on base so we went across the street to the park to watch but unfortunately a thick marine layer (fog that comes off of the ocean) rolled in and we could hear everything but couldn't see a thing, maybe next year!

Leon's Promotion

Today Leon got promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant (E6). When he was back east in North Carolina he was put on what is called a "board" where they ask a series of questions and he was one of the Marines selected to be meritoriously promoted!

When Marines are promoted, they pick two people to put their new rank on each collar and he chose myself and Gunnery Sergeant Campbell, he worked with this Marine for a couple years and he and his wife were very supportive when Tyson was born.

After the ceremony we were able to enjoy a cookout and meet lots of new people!

I don't have a video or anything, but I thought that some of you might appreciate this!

As you know, I have been teaching Tyson sign language for a while now and he can sign several things including more, please, eat, drink, milk, hot and I have really been working with him to sign thank you lately.

Well, yesterday Leon, Tyson and I went to a farewell dinner for a Marine that I used to work with and one of the ladies there gave Tyson a cookie. As soon as he took the cookie I started to open my mouth to tell him to say thank you but before I could even say anything he looked at her and signed thank you and he does this cute little head nod when he does it too, I was so proud of him that he not only did it without being told but that he also knows when to say thank you, woohoo!!!!

Swim Lessons

This week Tyson had swim lessons and he did so great!

They taught us how to put them under water so they will hold their breath and every time Tyson came back up he would just laugh and wanted to keep going under water!

We had a great time playing with the other kids and meeting new people!

Okay, so I went shopping today and I came home and Leon showed me this video.
We call him our Tycinderella because he can close doors, throw things in the trash, put things in the dirty clothes and apparently do laundry!

He now has 16 teeth, so food is not a problem!

Tyson decided that he wanted to climb into and sit in his block box, he has now learned to stand up in it and trys to climb on the couch. He is such a boy!

Here Tyson is being a very silly boy, as usual.
He is doing well, as you all know, we are potty training, but he is doing great! He wears pulls up usually during the day when he and I are at home so I can take him potty frequently. He can't say "pee-pee", so he calls it "ba-ba", it's so funny!
He now has 13 or 14 teeth, I can't count anymore and now when I try to get in there to look he bites me!

Well, when Grandma Lucas was visiting in February, we went shopping and got Tyson a toilet. This toilet plays music for them when they use the restroom and is made to look like a "throne".

Anyways, I put it together this week and we have been putting Tyson on it for a few days now and he has gone to the bathroom five times in it already! This morning before we left for church, he went over and pointed at it so I pulled his pants down and put him on it and he went! So, for his reward he gets part of his chocolate sucker that Leon bought him on his trip home for North Carolina. We just wanted to share with you all that Tyson is using the potty, woohoo!

Tyson had to get up early in the morning while he was at Grandma's house to feed the goats, he said it was hard work for a city boy,and he found out they really don't eat tin cans like they do on TV.

Today was my going away luncheon with my Marines. I can't believe that the four years has already gone by, but I wouldn't have changed it for the world! I would have like to have gone to Iraq, but God knew what was best and now Leon and I have our little Tyson!

Some of the great things that I was able to do while I was in the Marine Corps was get my freshman year of college out of the way and now I will be able to complete the other three years at no cost! I was able to attend the Presidential Inauguration in Washington, D.C.

So many amazing things, but one of the greatest is that I will always have these brothers and sister that I will never forget!

Lance Corporal Calabro, Corporal Williams, Me (Corporal Lucas), Tyson (no rank), Sergeant Knott and First Lieutenant Hogan.

This is the plaque that my Marines put together for me, doesn't it look amazing?!

I will explain what everything is:

On your left hand side, that is the rank of Corporal, beneath it is the rank of Lance Corporal and then Private First Class. Those are the ranks that I was while I was in the Marines. Under the gold ranks is my rifle badge. We qualify at the rifle range once a year and I am a sharpshooter, the second best :)

On your right hand side, those are the three medals that I rate to wear, the first one is my Good Conduct Medal, the next is the National Defense Medal and the last one is the Global War on Terrorism Medal.

Marine Corps Emblem is in the top middle and underneath it is an eagle with the American flag on one side and the Marine Corps flag on the other side.

This is what they had put on the bottom of my plaque, "Flight Queen" stands for one of my positions in the office when we sent over 4,000 Marines and Sailors to Iraq. We did this about three or four times while I was at this duty station and I was the primary Marine in charge of orders and accountability.

G-1 Manpower, 1st MLG (Marine Logistics Group) is my unit.

14 January 2006 - 25 May 2008 are the dates that I have been at Camp Pendleton, before that I served at Marine Corps base Quantico, Virginia from November 2004 - January 2006.
